Olga Kagan, PhD, RN, CIMI, FHIMSS, FAAAAI

About

Olga Kagan, PhD, RN, CIMI, FHIMSS, FAAAAI, NYAM Fellow, holds a license as a professional registered nurse in NYS since 2000 and has been a certified infant massage instructor since 2003. She worked in critical care settings inside and outside of the US since 1995. In 2002, she transitioned to an outpatient clinic as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator at the WTC Worker & Volunteer Medical Screening & Monitoring Program at Mt. Sinai Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health. She developed educational materials, and was involved with the testing and administration of the assessment tools from the inception of the program. Dr. Kagan’s research interest lies in serving the needs of individuals living with allergic conditions, and is aimed at prevention and action strategies through the lens of public health, health policy, healthcare innovation and nursing informatics. She continues to bring educational programs to those in need, and is involved in the development and testing of assessment and education tools. She is a founder and leader of Food Allergy Nurses Interest group (FANI) on LinkedIn, and a founding member and chair of Collaborative Healthcare Innovation, Research & Problem Solving committee at SONSIEL, where she has been appointed to serve as an executive board member for 2022-2024 term, and a President-Elect for 2025-2027 term. As a Molloy University the Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing and Health Sciences faculty, she served as an advisory board member for the Center for Nursing Research and Evaluation (CNRE), and Doctoral Nursing Organization (DNO)  between 2018-2024.  She also teaches at CUNY SPS, where she served 2 terms as Governing Council elected representative. Dr. Kagan served two years as an Associate Editor for a peer reviewed journal - JANANY, and currently serves as a reviewer for two nursing journals and JACI: Global. She has been invited as a keynote speaker for major NY-based hospital systems and to serve as a mentor, and a judge for science and innovation driven events, including MITvsCOVID19 challenges and as an advisor to start-up companies. Dr. Kagan served one term on the BOD at the HIMSS NYS Chapter, where she chairs HIMSS-NY nursing committee, and has been appointed as a member of the HIMSS National NI Committee for 2022-2024 term and invited to serve on the Nursing Innovation Advisory Group in 2023. She is active with AAAAI technology and innovation,  undeserved populations, and anaphylaxis committees, ANA-NY, the NYAM informatics group. She will be serving as the NYAM Nursing Section chair for 2025-2027 term. She is a member of the ENRS, LIAAS, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. Olga Kagan lives in Long Island, NY with her husband and two children.
